Hangover Mondays

You just gotta love Mondays. What an awful way to start out a series of 7 days. Monday’s are the rectum of the week. Monday is one tough son-of-a-gun. It is a murderous, tireless period. If Monday were to get in a fight with Friday, Friday would have to team up with Thursday and Saturday just to make it fair. This of course, would never happen. Not just because Days of the week are merely hypothetical chunks of time, but because Thursday, Friday and Saturday are the seducers and sirens of the week. They specialize in influencing bad decisions, not fighting and violence. Thursday and Friday tempt and taunt with the potential for more sleep, no alarm clocks, abandoned responsibility and caution thrown to the wind. Friday is the worst of the worst. Immediately upon awakening, Friday is creepily and seductively whispering in your ear the whole day:

“Hey… Hey buddy…. You know what? Guess what? You don’t have to work tomorrow… Did you know that? You did, didn’t you?” “…Hey, and you know what else? Since you don’t have to work tomorrow, you know what you should do…?” “You should go ahead and have a couple of ice cold beers when you get off work…” “You know, just celebrate the completion of another week of mediocrity…”

So when 4:00 PM on Friday rolls around, you’ve been taunted and teased all day and can no longer resist the temptation of freedom. You skip out of work a touch early, cuz heck it’s Friday, everyone’s being tempted all day – you can’t possibly be the only one. On the drive home, you stop by a gas station or a grocery store and pickup a case of beer, cuz you’re gonna need at least that much for the weekend, and more if you plan on not being a complete alcoholic by drinking alone.

Upon arriving at your home, the endless possibilities of what the weekend holds in store are too much to endure so you crack open that first cold one and get ready to taste freedom. Don’t forget to buckle-up (figuratively, not literally – The Beerburglar absolutely does NOT endorse drinking and driving) because it’s gonna be a wild one. Equipped with your favorite recession-friendly cheap beer (as of late, Natural Light has become quite a favorite of the Beerburglar‘s) you are in for a fun-filled and exciting excursion into the future (just don’t drink too many or you’ll time travel and could miss out on some choice memories).

Friday night ends successfully, and rolls into Saturday’s events and fun in the sun, with yet again more of your favorite value beers. Saturday night is more of the same, and when Sunday Fun-Day rolls around, you just GOTTA keep the party going with more fun in the sun and ice-cold brewed refreshment. Sunday afternoon rapidly turns into Sunday evening grilling and Cornhole, and before you know it, it’s midnight on Sunday and you’re facing 6-7 hours of inadequate sleep to start off yet another lousy work week, bringing us right back to….

MONDAY. The pesky, infected, canker sore that simply won’t heal because of constant unavoidable teeth-gnawing and scraping. The perpetual dehydrated, depressed, dilapidated, discombobulated, dreadful Monday. The relief of Monday’s conclusion is almost as welcoming as the conclusion of Thursday. Almost.

So remember oh fellow Cheap-Beer-Enthusiasts, the more you struggle with Mondays and the rest of the worthless week, the better off that first freedom-force of refreshment will taste, and the better off your weekend will be.

And look at that, it’s 4:37 PM on Monday, the suffering is nearly over…

Burgling Binge-Drinker Beers…

Wow, Coors is officially a respected beer in the eyes of the Beerburglar. They just announced a new can structure that includes a separate tab for shotgunning beers. Absolutely radical:

For years, The Beerburglar looked down upon Coors Light with scorn and dissapointment as the quality (or should I say lack-thereof) was not remotely in line with the price. Then when they launched the simpleton/redneck/country bumpkin version of a “Hot Wheels” beer can, The Beerburglar was disgusted with the utter preposterousness of this intelligence-insulting marketing gimmick.

However, this new announcement brings Coors Light back into favorable “Light” in the Beerburglar‘s pallette. With the old cans, Coors Light ranked a fat zero in the flavor department, and portrayed an air of childish drinking (if you’re going to hold a beer long enough to be seen with it, please grow up and make sure it’s a real/cheap/get-you-drunk-quick/high-octane brew). Now, if one is caught sipping a beer with a SHOTGUN TAB CONSTRUCTED INTO THE CAN, you had damn well better be SHOTGUNNING IT!

Kudos to Coors for de-pussifying their watered-down, over-priced water-chestnut flavored beverage. If you drink Coors Light on the weekend, you more than likely also paint your flabby upper body in the team colors of your city’s losing Pro Football Team.

At least now The Beerburglar actually has a reason to purchase Coors Light. Similar to the meathead motto “Bigger, Stronger, Faster), any innovation in Beer Drinking that gets the Beerburglar drunker, quicker, cheaper is okay in his book.

Alliteration aside, The Beerburglar will basically use this as a vehicle to express my passion for finding the cheapest alcohol available – principally cheap beer. If you like cheap beer, getting drunk cheaply, and in general enjoy having a good time on a pittance, you’ve come to the right spot. The Beerburglar will try (when not too tired from drinking – ahem, burgling) – to provide advice and hints on how and where to find your beer of choice at the best price. Whether that beverage is Pabst Blue Ribbon (a personal favorite of the Beerburglar‘s) or a particular craft beer, The Beerburglar would like to help you burgle your beer at the best price around.
